Instrumentally Sound

Original Music

At the end of 2009, I released a collection of original instrumentals which have been featured on Adult Swim, MTV, and VH1.  There are also instrumentals from some songs I've released with other artists, including "Evil Violin," which is the instrumental for a song called "Rich 'n Stingy" featuring Chi-King and 12 O'Clock (member of Brooklyn Zu, and brother of the late ODB of Wu-Tang).

In addition to just making sure other people could hear my music, I really wanted to test how many avenues I could use to promote my album with a very limited budget.  Since then, the "Sound Scientists - Instrumentally Sound" album is now available on iTunes, Amazon, Pandora, Grooveshark, Spotify, Last.fm, and plenty of other websites, stores and online radios.  Of course, my intention with this release was not to generate large amounts of money - so I released it for free as well, to anyone that tries looking.  With close to 1,000,000 plays on record (myspace, youtube, grooveshark, pandora, etc.) and who knows how many more off the record, I've considered this release a great learning experience, and just the first of at least a few more to come.

To answer a popular question, the music on the album was created with a large range of equipment.  A quick list of some favorite items that went into the making: sp1200, akai mpc2kxl, asr-10, motif, triton, bass station, sl-1200 mk2, yamaha aw4416, and on and on...  There was also a decent amount of software used to create the music, including Cubase SX, Nuendo, ProTools, Cakewalk Sonar, and the entire Native Instruments suite, which I couldn't live without.
